The Polish Museum of America Summer Gala
This year, the Polish Museum of America (PMA) Summer Gala honors the 100-year history of Polish sailing. In support of the biggest general operations fundraiser of the year, the PMA looks to Polish Americans in Chicago and across the US, as well as anyone with an interest in Polish and Polonian culture and heritage, so that we may continue to conserve and promote our shared stories and treasures for future generations.
This year’s Gala will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at O’Hare Tech Center in Schiller Park, Illinois, where Ewa Radwanska, MD, PhD, and the Polish Scouting Organization of Illinois will be honored with the Polish Spirit Award in the individual and organization category, respectively. You can be part of this by the following:
- APPEALS– Show your generous support of the PMA; levels from $25 to $10,000; banner recognition for the top four categories; all donors will be proudly acknowledged in the Program Book. Thanks to a generous, anonymous PMA friend and supporter, the first $50,000 raised via the appeal will guarantee a $50,000 matching donation which is in memory of Jack and Dorothy Radgowski.
• ADS – Businesses and organizations can show their patronage; levels from $300/ quarter page to $1,000/ gold full page. - GUESTS– Attend the Gala and enjoy a memorable evening celebrating the PMA; tickets available online.

100 YEARS OF POLISH SAILING – An exhibit celebrating the 100th anniversary of Polish yachting, August 17 – March 15, 2025.
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, August 16, 2025, 7 pm – 9 pm, with refreshments and entertainment provided by Mlynn Sea Shanties Music Band. Open to the public.
SPECIAL REGATTA COMMEMORATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF POLISH YACHTING: Saturday, August 17th, 10 am – 3 pm, at Montrose Harbor (Hosted in cooperation with the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk; Bogdan Ogórek, PMA Regatta coordinator 708-227-7700)
CHICAGO—August 17, 2024 – March 15, 2025. 100 Years of Polish Sailing invites visitors to delve into the fascinating maritime history of Poland, tracing the evolution of yachting over the past century. The exhibit presents the Polish sailing community and documents historic transatlantic voyages of sailors from Poland as well as Chicago, including the voyages of the legendary Dal, captained by Andrzej Bohomolec, and Poleszuk, a scout sailing vessel manned by a crew of five young Polish scouts. Both of these sailboats had their final port of call in Chicago.
Nautical artifacts, archival materials and artworks with a nautical theme form a beautiful thread in this upcoming exhibition, a collaborative effort of the Polish Museum of America and the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. Among the various treasures are wind-swept flags, models of sailing vessels from the 1939 World’s Fair, souvenirs related to the Sea League of America and the Polish Yachting Association, as well as memorabilia related to the Joseph Conrad Yacht Club and Polish Yacht Club. The Museum wishes to honor past and present sailors as well as to educate a new generation about this beautiful lifestyle
