Christmas Carols Concert with the Trójcowo Brass Band
On Sunday, January 18, following the 11:00 Holy Mass at the Trinity Church, the public is warmly invited to the Polish Museum for a Christmas Carol Concert with communal Polish caroling, performed by the renowned “Trójcowo” Brass Band of Chicago.
The doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Polish Museum of America, where the audience will have a unique opportunity not only to listen, but also to sing traditional Polish carols together with the orchestra.
Admission: $10
Founded in 1989 at the initiative of Rev. Władysław Gowin, SChr, Director of the Polish Pastoral Mission, the “Trójcowo” Brass Band has for decades been an integral part of Polish religious, patriotic, and cultural life in Chicago. The concert promises an atmosphere of warmth, reflection and joyful community – an invitation to celebrate the beauty of Polish Christmas through music.

Koncert kolęd z Orkiestrą Dętą “Trójcowo”
W niedzielę, 18 stycznia, po Mszy Świętej o godz. 11:00, serdecznie zapraszamy na koncert kolęd połączony ze wspólnym polskim kolędowaniem, w wykonaniu Polonijnej Orkiestry Dętej „Trójcowo” z Chicago.
Drzwi zostaną otwarte o godz. 12:30, a koncert rozpocznie się o godz. 13:00 w Sali Głównej Muzeum Polskiego w Ameryce. Będzie to wyjątkowa okazja by, nie tylko wysłuchać kolęd w aranżacjach orkiestralnych, lecz także zaśpiewać je wspólnie z muzykami.
Wstęp: $10
Orkiestra Dęta „Trójcowo,” założona w 1989 roku z inicjatywy ks. Władysława Gowina SChr, od lat uświetnia uroczystości religijne, patriotyczne i parafialne, pielęgnując polską tradycję muzyczną wśród kolejnych pokoleń Polonii. Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce zaprasza na spotkanie autorskie z Magdaleną Żelazowską – pisarką, dziennikarką i podróżniczką, wokół jej najnowszej książki Polki w Ameryce. Historie kobiet, które wyruszyły za ocean i podbiły świat. Posłowie do publikacji napisała Małgorzata Kot, dyrektor zarządzająca MPA.
To opowieść o Polkach, które uwierzyły w swoje marzenia i odważyły się sięgnąć po amerykański sen. Wśród bohaterek książki znajdują się m.in. Helena Modrzejewska, która przyjechała do USA z myślą o pracy na roli, a stała się jedną z największych gwiazd amerykańskiej sceny teatralnej; Pola Negri – pierwsza Europejka w Hollywood; Ruth Handler, córka polskich emigrantów i twórczyni lalki Barbie; oraz Urszula Dudziak, która z niezwykłą determinacją zdobyła jazzowe sceny Stanów Zjednoczonych.
Autorka poświęca również uwagę Polkom związanym z Chicago, pokazując rolę tego miasta jako jednego z najważniejszych ośrodków polskiej emigracji w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Przygląda się motywacjom emigracji oraz drogom, jakie jej bohaterki musiały przejść, mierząc się z barierami języka, pochodzenia i płci. Obok błyskotliwych karier, wielkich fortun i spektakularnych sukcesów, w książce nie brakuje także momentów zwątpienia, porażek i osobistych dramatów. Żelazowska pokazuje, jak zmiana kraju potrafi odmienić człowieka i jak polska zaradność oraz determinacja pomagają odnaleźć się w świecie nieograniczonych możliwości.
Spotkanie w Muzeum Polskim w Ameryce będzie okazją do rozmowy o kobiecej emigracji, tożsamości, odwadze w przekraczaniu granic oraz o Ameryce rozumianej nie tylko jako miejsce na mapie, lecz także jako stan ducha.

The Polish Museum of America invites the public to an author talk with Magdalena Żelazowska – writer, journalist, and traveler, celebrating her latest book, Polish Women in America: Stories of Women Who Crossed the Ocean and Conquered the World. The afterword was written by our own Małgorzata Kot, PMA’s Managing Director.
The book tells the stories of Polish women who believed in their dreams and helped shape the American experience. Among them are Helena Modrzejewska, who arrived in the United States planning to start a farm and instead became a legendary stage actress; Pola Negri, the first European star of Hollywood; Ruth Handler, daughter of Polish immigrants and creator of the iconic Barbie doll; and Urszula Dudziak, whose determination led her from uncertainty to the top jazz stages in America.
Żelazowska also explores the stories of Polish women connected to Chicago, emphasizing the city’s role as one of the most important centers of Polish immigration in the United States. She examines what drove these women to emigrate and how they overcame barriers of language, origin, and gender. Alongside dazzling careers, wealth, and fame, the book also reveals setbacks, tears, and personal struggles. It is a powerful portrait of how migration transforms lives and how resilience helps individuals thrive in a world of boundless opportunity.
The event at the Polish Museum of America will offer a unique opportunity to reflect on women’s migration, identity, and courage, and on America as more than a geographical destination – as a state of mind.
